Teams looking for an open source 6G core network, open-source 5G/6G testbed or modifiable mobile-core implementation often need one thing above all: access to the implementation itself.
Fraunhofer FOKUS provides Open6GCore source code under license. Licensed partners can inspect, modify and extend the software for internal or project purposes. Access can cover the complete Open6GCore toolkit or selected components.
The licensed-source model combines source-code flexibility with protection of project-specific developments. Open6GCore technology remains protected, while modifications, integrations and research results developed by partners do not have to be published simply because they build on the platform. This is particularly relevant for collaborative R&D, industrial prototypes and pre-commercial developments where both Fraunhofer and partner intellectual property must remain protected.
Open enough to modify, protected enough for joint R&D
Licensed source-code access gives partners the flexibility to adapt Open6GCore while protecting both Fraunhofer technology and customer-specific developments.
Two access models
- Source Code License
Access to Open6GCore source code with the right to inspect, modify and extend it for internal or project purposes.
- Binary License
Deployment and use of Open6GCore as executable software without source-code access.
Both models can cover the complete toolkit or selected Open6GCore components.
Licensed source-code access also enables AI-assisted development with coding agents such as Claude Code for project-specific modifications and extensions.
Fraunhofer FOKUS can provide the architectural context, development guidance, extension points, build and test information, and project-specific context files such as CLAUDE.md to support effective work with the Open6GCore codebase.
